With Introspection brings together two artists in dialogue with one another exploring alternative methods of interpreting and working with image.
Timothy Stuart Wee is a photographer originally from Singapore currently working in London. His practice spans various photographic genres. Focusing on process by working into layers of the image, his works challenge perception. Timothy’s practice draws on ideas of contradiction, place, technology and hybridity. Working digitally, the manipulation and intervention of the image is as significant as the subject depicted.
Chinese born, London based artist Simon Song works with photography’s relationship to abstraction. His practice involves using his understanding of traditional Chinese art to explore and reveal the latent possibilities and sensations which exist within the image. Working exclusively with analog photography, Simon’s work recognises the distortion of different processes as a means to create images that go beyond the photographic.
